Our leather backpacks combine everyday practicality with the quality of handcrafted full-grain leather. Each backpack is made in our Cape Town workshop, using vegetable-tanned leather that’s thick enough to hold its shape and soft enough to be comfortable on your back from the first wear.

The range includes leather-and-canvas combinations that pair full-grain leather with Capri canvas for a lighter, more casual look, and our springbok leather backpack for something truly distinctive. All backpacks feature padded adjustable straps, secure zip closures, and roomy interiors sized for laptops, books, and daily carry.

Leather Backpack FAQs

Will a laptop fit in a leather backpack?

Yes. Our adult leather backpacks are designed to fit laptops up to 15 inches, along with books, a water bottle, and daily essentials. The interior includes a padded sleeve section to keep your laptop secure and protected during travel.

What is Capri canvas?

Capri canvas is a durable, tightly woven cotton canvas that we pair with our full-grain leather in several backpack designs. It reduces the overall weight of the bag while adding a distinctive two-tone aesthetic. The canvas is hard-wearing and ages well alongside the leather, developing its own character over time.

Are the backpack straps comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes. Our backpack straps are cut from the same full-grain leather as the bag body, padded where they sit on the shoulders, and fully adjustable to suit different body sizes. The leather straps soften and mould to your shoulders over time, becoming more comfortable the more you use them.

How heavy is a leather backpack?

Our leather-and-canvas backpacks are lighter than you might expect \u2014 the canvas panels reduce weight compared to an all-leather design. The springbok leather backpack is also relatively lightweight thanks to the natural lightness of springbok hide. None of our backpacks are uncomfortably heavy for daily commuting.
